First of all, its name means ‘Valle de Mussa’, in honor of the Arab nobleman who established in this place during the time of Islamic domination.

By 1231, Mallorca was reconquered by the then King of Catalonia and Aragon, James I. At the beginning of the 14th century it would be his second son, James II who would order the construction of a palace for his son Sancho, the same palace that would be ceded to the Carthusian Order, transforming it into the Royal Carthusian Monastery, one of the main tourist attractions of the town.

  • Hermitage of Valldemossa.
